Our Very First Family Vacation
Last week we went on our very first vacation as a family to Charleston, SC. It was such a great trip and we had so much fun being able to spend 7 straight days with Ava. She really came out of her shell and had a great time as well. She laughed, smiled, squealed and giggled more than I have ever seen her do. It was such a joy to be able to be with her for the entire week. She is definitely a daddy's girl, no one can make her smile like Gabe can...it's the sweetest thing to see the both of them together.
While in Charleston, we went to the beach almost every day. We couldn't have asked for better weather! Ava loved the sand between her toes and liked the water splashing on her (even though the water was cold!) She enjoyed taking long naps in the tent during the day. The beach waves in the background must have been very relaxing because she took a 3 hour nap one day while at the beach! We stayed with Ashley and David at their new home for most of the week. They have such a beautiful place and we had so much fun spending time with them last week(Thanks for your hospitality, Ash and David!) One night, we bought some fish from a local fish market right outside of Folly Beach and grilled out. It was delicious!
One Wednesday, we took a tour of downtown Charleston. We ate lunch at a restaurant right off the water and saw some dolphins swimming off in the distance. We also went to the Charleston Aquarium which was one of the highlights of our trip. Ava loved looking at the aquariums and seeing all the fish, she was very entertained at all the sights!
Later in the week, we met up with Mark and Brenda (Gabe's aunt and uncle) and their kids. We stayed with them for a couple of days on Isle of Palms Beach. In my opinion, this is the best beach in Charleston. We had a great time hanging out with the Stewarts and building sandcastles on the beach!
We couldn't have asked for a better trip with Ava. She did very well on the ride down there and back. We drove through the night so that she would sleep the entire time and that is exactly what she did! We can't wait to go back to Charleston, hopefully we will be able to visit again next year! Below are some of the better pictures from our trip.

Attempting to Crawl
So, Ava is trying to crawl and it all happened while we were on vacation. We were so excited that we were actually there to see her attempts at crawling. She gets both knees under her stomach and tries to push off. She hasn't quite figured it out yet, but I know it will be no time until she's crawling in circles around us. Here are some short clips of Ava trying to crawl. Sorry, they are so short, but I want to make sure I can upload them to the blog.
Ava-6 months
My, how time flies! Ava turned 6 months old on October 4th, so of course, we had to have a photo shoot for her 1/2 birthday! My friend Amanda (AK's cupcakes) made some delicious cupcakes and cake balls for the celebration. Ava even got to try a little piece of the cake and she liked it!
Ava is growing up so fast...at 6 months, she already has two teeth coming in and she is starting to crawl. She has started to make this funny face where she squishes her cheeks together and blows. She loves to squeal/giggle and she has never met a stranger. She is very friendly to everyone she meets. One of my favorite things that Ava does is when I feed her a bottle, she takes her right hand and likes to rub the bottom of my chin the whole time she is eating. She also rubs the top her head and plays with her hair. She is grabbing her toes and moving all over the place, she is a busy little bee. She still loves seeing her reflection in the mirror, that will always get her to smile. She loves going on walks and looking at all the sights. She still enjoys bathtime too, as soon as she hears the water running, she starts kicking her feet and flailing her arms all over the place with excitement. She absolutely hates the carseat, because she has to be buckled in.
Ava goes to her Nana's 3 days a week and to Central Day School the other 2 days. She loves her teachers and all the friends she has made at Day School.
She weighs almost 17 lbs now and is pretty tall at 26" in length. She is so strong and loves to stand up (with assistance, of course!) as much as she possibly can.

Look Who Came to Visit Me at Work...
My mom came up to watch Ava a couple of weeks ago and decided to bring Ava by my work to come visit me and I was able to show her off to all of my co-workers. I am a proud mama!
